The Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service in Peshawar will resume operations on Tuesday, October 13, after a temporary suspension linked to road closures and heightened security measures in the provincial capital.
TransPeshawar, the company responsible for operating the city's BRT system, announced that services would resume on all routes according to the usual schedule.
'Service will be provided as usual on all routes,' the company said in a notice, reassuring commuters who faced transport difficulties during the suspension.
The BRT service was suspended as authorities introduced security measures following the imposition of governor's rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Roadblocks and restrictions at several locations disrupted movement across Peshawar, affecting commuters and public transport.
The suspension also coincided with the closure of educational institutions across the city on Monday, October 12, as the district administration took precautionary measures amid the prevailing situation.
The resumption is expected to provide relief to daily commuters, including students, office workers and residents who depend on the BRT network for affordable transportation.
Peshawar's BRT, also known as Zu Peshawar, connects Chamkani in the east with Karkhano Market in the west through a dedicated corridor. The wider system includes express, stopping and feeder services that connect different parts of the city.

According to TransPeshawar's published system information, the network includes 30 corridor stations and routes serving areas beyond the main corridor.
The district administration has meanwhile imposed Section 144 in Peshawar for seven days, prohibiting public gatherings and the display of weapons. The order also restricts the possession of items that could be used to cause violence.
Commuters are advised to follow official announcements from TransPeshawar for any further operational updates and to allow extra time for their journeys if road restrictions affect access to stations.
The announced restoration is scheduled for Tuesday, October 13, with all routes expected to operate as usual.
