NGP Cadet Climbs 16,500-Foot Himalayan Mountain

Editor , December 30, 2025 NCC Cadet John Ronaldo from Dr. NGP Arts and Science College and 2 TN CTC NCC Army Wing, Coimbatore, successfully climbed Mount Renok (16,500 feet), a Himalayan peak in Sikkim, India, during the 28-day Basic Mountaineering Course conducted by the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI), Darjeeling. During the course, the cadet underwent intensive training in rock climbing, trekking, snow craft, ice craft, and survival techniques, performing exceptionally well under extreme climatic conditions and challenging terrain. In recognition of his outstanding discipline, physical endurance, and dedication, he was awarded the 'Best Performance Award.' To honour this remarkable achievement, Dr. Nalla G. Palaniswami, Chairman, KMCH & Dr. N.G.P. Research and Educational Trust, Coimbatore, and Thamizhachi Thangapandian, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), felicitated the cadet. The management, principal, NCC officers, and staff of the college congratulated NCC Cadet John Ronaldo for bringing laurels to the institution and the NCC unit, and wished him continued success in his future endeavours.
