Morgantown's Parents Place hosts community play date

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — Parent's Place, a non-profit organization that gathers young children and parents in the community, hosted a community play date on Saturday, inviting children to explore a variety of educational activities and make friends. Activities such as coloring, play-doh workshops and other hands-on learning opportunities were presented for the kids to interact with. 12 News spoke with Kelly Gillespie, an administrator with Parent's Place, who shared her hopes on what families take away from the event. 'We like to focus on social, emotional learning, fine and gross motor work, and just giving them an opportunity to socialize and interact with other kiddos at a young age,' Gillespie said It's not just the children who got to learn and socialize; the group is also meant for parents looking to gather and collect resources. Informational packets as well as other resources were available to parents interested.
