'House of the Dragon' star may feature in next 007 film
Ewan Mitchell being eyed for Bond villain role
Ewan Mitchell is reportedly being considered for a villain role in the upcoming James Bond film, according to a new rumour.
The House of the Dragon star, who plays Prince Aemond Targaryen in the HBO series, is said to be in contention for a part in the next 007 movie. Mitchell has not commented on the report, and Amazon has yet to announce the cast for Bond 26.
Amazon is developing a James Bond reboot following Daniel Craig's departure from the role after No Time to Die in 2021. The studio took control of the franchise in a deal reportedly worth around $1 billion.
Denis Villeneuve, known for directing Dune, has been confirmed as the director of Bond 26, while Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight is writing the screenplay. Casting details have remained closely guarded, although Amazon has confirmed that the search for the next James Bond is underway.
The rumour surrounding Mitchell comes on October 5, which is celebrated as James Bond Day and marks the 1962 release of Dr. No. Some fans have speculated that Amazon could reveal casting news as part of this year's celebrations.
Producer Amy Pascal previously said the next James Bond is expected to be cast by the end of 2026. Several actors have been linked to the role, including Tom Holland, Taron Egerton, Callum Turner, Jack Lowden and Jack O'Connell, although no official decision has been announced.
Mitchell recently appeared in the third season of House of the Dragon. The fantasy series is set to conclude with its fourth season in 2028, while the wider Game of Thrones franchise continues to expand with upcoming spin-offs and films.
