LAHORE - An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Wednesday acquitted a man, Ata Muhammad, in a case involving the alleged recovery of explosive material, granting him the benefit of doubt due to insufficient evidence. ATC Judge Shahid Sikander announced the verdict after concluding the trial. The accused was brought from jail to attend the proceedings. The court observed that the prosecution had failed to produce sufficient evidence to substantiate the charges against the accused. It subsequently ordered his acquittal, granting him the benefit of doubt, and directed his release. The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Lahore registered the case against Ata Muhammad in 2025. According to the CTD, the accused was affiliated with a banned organisation, and explosive material had allegedly been recovered from his possession. The department had also accused him of involvement in terrorist activities. LHC Chief Justice Aalia Neelum inaugurates Judicial Complex in Alipur
