Focus Features holds worldwide rights to the film, while Universal Pictures International will oversee its international distribution. Barker directs Anything But Ghosts and co-wrote the screenplay with Cooper Tomlinson, his collaborator from the 2026 horror film Obsession. Barker and Tomlinson will also lead the cast of the upcoming horror-comedy, alongside Violet McGraw, Chris Reinacher, Bryce Dallas Howard and Aaron Paul. The story follows a group of aspiring ghost hunters who are looking for fame but find themselves dealing with increasingly dangerous and frightening circumstances. The film's official premise describes the group as 'fame-seeking wannabe ghosthunters' whose activities spiral out of control. Anything But Ghosts is produced by Roy Lee, Steven Schneider, Jason Blum, Adam Hendricks and Greg Gilreath. Daniel Bekerman, Barker, Tomlinson and Ben Ross are among the executive producers. The project follows Barker's feature directorial debut, Obsession, which became a notable box office success after its release in 2026. The supernatural horror film reportedly earned $519 million worldwide against a production budget of less than $1 million. Obsession follows Bear, a lonely young man who uses a mysterious toy called a One Wish Willow to make his crush, Nikki, fall in love with him. The wish has disastrous consequences for Bear, Nikki and their friends. Barker's next project will continue his work in the horror genre while adding a comedic element. With its May 2027 release date confirmed, Anything But Ghosts is set to arrive in cinemas from Focus Features and Blumhouse-Atomic Monster.
