Punjab Govt Approves 3 Major Health Projects! Maryam Nawaz Medical College, Kulsoom Nawaz Cancer Hospital and Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology

The Punjab Government has approved three major healthcare projects aimed at expanding specialized medical services and improving access to advanced treatment facilities across the province. The approved plans include the establishment of the Maryam Nawaz Medical College and Teaching Hospital in Mianwali, the Kulsoom Nawaz Cancer Hospital in Dera Ghazi Khan, and the 268-bed Nawaz Sharif-Maryam Nawaz Institute of Cardiology in Gujranwala. The decisions were approved during a meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif in Lahore. The projects are designed to strengthen healthcare infrastructure while expanding opportunities for medical education, specialized treatment and clinical training in different parts of Punjab. The proposed medical college and teaching hospital in Mianwali is expected to support medical education alongside healthcare services for residents of the region. Meanwhile, the planned cancer hospital in Dera Ghazi Khan would provide specialized cancer-related treatment closer to patients in southern Punjab. The 268-bed Institute of Cardiology in Gujranwala is planned to focus on cardiac care and related specialized services, potentially providing patients in the region with greater access to dedicated heart-care facilities. Together, the projects represent a planned expansion of specialized healthcare infrastructure across Punjab, with the government aiming to bring advanced medical services and treatment facilities closer to communities outside major urban centres.
