The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a province-wide weather alert, warning of rain, strong winds and thunderstorms in several districts from October 10 to 14.
According to a PDMA spokesperson, a westerly weather system is expected to enter the country's upper regions on Saturday, bringing rainfall to various parts of Punjab.
The forecast predicts rain, gusty winds and thunderstorms on October 10, 11, 13 and 14 in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal and Mianwali.

Intermittent showers, accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms, are also expected in Faisalabad, Khushab, Bhakkar, Sargodha, Jhang and Toba Tek Singh on October 10, 11 and 13.
PDMA Director General Saif Anwar Jappa has instructed divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners to remain vigilant, with particular attention to Murree, Galiyat and other hilly areas where the risk of landslides could increase.
The authority said district administrations had been put on alert in line with the chief minister's instructions.
The health, irrigation, communications and works, local government and livestock departments have also been directed to ensure preparedness for any weather-related emergency.

Public urged to take precautions
Jappa advised residents to follow safety measures during adverse weather and avoid staying in unsafe, dilapidated or mud-built houses.
People have been urged to take shelter in secure locations during storms and strong winds and avoid unnecessary travel while conditions remain hazardous.
Residents should stay indoors or seek suitable shelter during thunderstorms and keep away from open spaces to minimise the risk of lightning strikes.
Parents have also been advised to take extra care of children and keep them away from low-lying areas, exposed electrical wires and power poles.

The PDMA said its emergency helpline, 1129, would be available to assist the public in case of an emergency.
Authorities have urged residents to monitor official weather updates and follow safety instructions throughout the forecast period.
