Cricket produced one of its most unusual moments during the Canada Super 60s semi-final between the Toronto Sixers and Mississauga Masters, leaving players, commentators and spectators wondering what had just happened. Mississauga Masters fast bowler Ali Khan, who represents the United States, was bowling to West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard when he delivered a dangerous bouncer. The ball flew over Pollard's head, went past the wicketkeeper and continued all the way over the boundary without touching the batter. At first glance, it looked like a remarkable six. However, the umpire called it a wide and awarded four boundary runs, giving Toronto Sixers a total of five runs — one for the wide and four for the boundary. ???? MAYBE FIRST TIME IN CRICKET HISTORY ???? Ali Khan bowls a bouncer, and the ball goes for a SIX ???? That's a Wide + Six, possibly the first time this has happened in cricket history ???? A must watch https://t.co/6QACwUgT2T — Richard Kettlebourogh Fans (@RichKettle07) October 5, 2026 Why Wasn't It Given as Six? Under the laws of cricket, a ball can be awarded six runs only when it crosses the boundary after being struck by the bat or the batter's gloves and goes over the boundary without bouncing. Since Pollard did not make any contact with the delivery, it could not be scored as a six. Instead, because the ball went directly to the boundary on a wide delivery, four boundary runs were added to the one wide run. The unusual incident quickly caught the attention of commentators and fans, as the ball travelled directly from the bowler's hand to the boundary without touching either the batter or the ground. Toronto Sixers eventually won the semi-final by nine runs to book their place in the Canada Super 60s final.
