RAWALPINDI - An additional district and sessions judge (ADSJ) here on Thursday handed down death sentence to three men for gunning down their rival in a village of Kotli Sattian in 2023. ADSJ Afshan Ijaz Suffi convicted Siyam Shafqat, Qasid Mehmood, and Nafeez Ahmed for killing Khalid Mehmood near Balawrda village in Kotli Sattian on June 26, 2023 and handed down death sentence to three of them. The court ordered that each of the convict would pay Rs1 million to the legal heirs of the deceased and in case of non-payment, the compensation money would be recovered as arrears of land revenue. Rs 2.75m Italy work visa fraud: FIA puts suspect behind bars According to details, Tariq Mehmood lodged the FIR with Kotli Sattian police saying he and his brother Khalid, who dealt in property business in Rawalpindi, were coming back home from cattle market after purchasing cattle for sacrifice on Eid-ul Azha when they met two of the area residents and started talking about the sacrificial animals at about 5:35pm. The complaining brother said that when they reached near the house of Bashir Ahmed; Siyam Shafqat, Qasid Mehmood, and Nafeez Ahmed, armed with pistols, with two unidentified men appeared on the scene as they were waiting for them. Nafeez opened fire at Khalid with an intention to kill and hit him in neck, chest and near right ear. The bullets fired by Siyam hit Khalid near his right shoulder. Meanwhile, Qasid fired and hit Khalid in left knee, fingers of right hand and near right shoulder. The killers fled away from the scene after killing Khalid at the spot. Tariq said that the motive behind the murder was an old enmity.
