Cole Sprouse has reacted to his twin brother Dylan Sprouse's claim that they are 'children of incest' after a DNA-based family tree discovery revealed an overlap between their parents' ancestry.
Dylan discussed the discovery during an episode of his
Wildmen
podcast, explaining that he used the genealogy service Ancestry to explore their family history. According to the actor, both sides of their family lived in California during the Gold Rush era and were connected through marriage in the late 19th century. The family branches later diverged before coming together again through their parents.
Dylan clarified that the discovery did not involve immediate incest. He also suggested that the family connection could explain why there had been seven sets of twins across four generations.
The
Suite Life of Zack & Cody
star said he initially contacted Cole to share the findings. However, Cole was reportedly uninterested in hearing the details and ended the call after Dylan began explaining what he had uncovered.
The story gained further attention when Cole addressed the resulting headlines on
Instagram Stories
. Sharing a screenshot of a headline describing the brothers as 'children of incest', he wrote, 'No media training on earth can prep you to read this clickbait headline at 10am.'
Dylan also reacted to the headline, joking that it deserved to be printed and displayed above the family's communal bed.
The brothers have continued to attract attention for their playful public exchanges. Cole also joked about people confusing the twins, noting that he sometimes gets tagged in content related to Victoria's Secret model Barbara Palvin, who is married to Dylan.
The couple married in 2023 and recently welcomed their daughter, Sylvie. Meanwhile, Cole and Dylan first rose to fame as child actors before starring in Disney Channel's
The Suite Life of Zack & Cody
and its spin-off,
The Suite Life on Deck
