Lahore Proposes Ban on Rickshaws on Canal Road

Lahore Traffic Police has proposed restricting Qingqi and loader rickshaws being used for Suthra Punjab sanitation operations on Canal Road to help ease congestion and maintain smoother traffic flow. The Chief Traffic Officer has asked the administration to consider alternative vehicles, citing disruptions caused by rickshaws along the busy route. Officials said the entry of Qingqi and loader rickshaws on Canal Road, including Model Road, is already prohibited. Enforcement efforts have resulted in action against 39,861 Qingqi and 16,832 loader rickshaws so far. Authorities said the measures have contributed to shorter travel times and improved traffic management for commuters using the route.
