ISLAMABAD, Oct 14 (APP):Heavy rain in Islamabad on Wednesday evening prompted the Capital Development Authority (CDA), district administration and emergency services to deploy field teams for drainage operations and measures to facilitate traffic movement and minimize inconvenience to residents.
Teams from the CDA's Sanitation Department, Environment Wing, Islamabad Water and Rescue 1122 were working across the capital to remove accumulated rainwater and monitor roads, drains and other locations. The additional deputy commissioner (general) and assistant commissioners, along with their staff, were also present in the field to supervise drainage operations.
The relevant departments were coordinating efforts to ensure timely drainage and provide relief to residents, while CDA teams continued de-watering operations at different locations.
Meanwhile, Islamabad Traffic Police advised commuters to exercise caution, warning that water accumulation on some roads could slow traffic during the rainfall.
Motorists were advised to reduce speed, maintain a safe distance from vehicles ahead, use fog lights where necessary and remain within their lanes. Drivers were also urged to use side mirrors, indicators and seat belts.
Motorcyclists were advised to wear helmets and use the extreme left lane.
Traffic police personnel remained deployed on roads to facilitate commuters and provide guidance during the wet weather.
Citizens requiring emergency assistance can contact Rescue 1122, police helpline 15 or CDA helpline 1334.
