Duke of Edinburgh's major US and Canada tour revealed with royal ceremony

The Duke of Edinburgh is set to embark on a packed tour of the US and Canada. The five-day US visit, taking place from 27 September to 1 October, will see the Duke travel between New York, Baltimore and Washington DC before heading to Canada on 2 October. He will also take part in a roundtable hosted by BNY, bringing together business and education voices to explore how the two sectors can work more closely to help prepare young people for the future. The Duke will later attend the Wren Gala during his time in the city. From New York, he will travel to Baltimore to visit Western High School, the oldest all-girls state school in the United States. The school is set to become a new partner institution for The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award, expanding the programme's reach among young people across the country. Prince Edward will then head to Washington DC, where history will take centre stage. He is due to tour the new education centre at Mount Vernon before laying a wreath at the tomb of George Washington, an engagement forming part of commemorations for the America 250 anniversary. His Washington itinerary will also include the King's Birthday Party at the British Ambassador's residence, where he will join fellow guests to celebrate his father's birthday. The Duke will round off his US tour by hosting a Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award ceremony. The royal's overseas trip will continue in Canada on 2 October, beginning with a visit to the Lassonde Art Trail. He will then attend an Experiential Education Gathering at Queen's Park, where he is expected to meet educators, Award providers and young participants involved with The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award Canada.
