Ms Natalie A. Baker, Chargé d'Affaires of the United States, has highlighted the importance of public awareness and early diagnosis in combating breast cancer, saying timely detection can significantly improve treatment outcomes and help save lives. Urging women to seek timely medical advice and remain vigilant about warning signs, Ms Baker said awareness was the first step towards fighting breast cancer and preventing the disease from becoming life-threatening. Talking to the media on the sidelines of a breast cancer awareness event at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), she said the disease affected women across the world, underscoring the need for sustained awareness campaigns and improved access to screening and healthcare services. She expressed concern that young girls and women in Pakistan were also being affected by breast cancer, stressing the importance of educating people about its symptoms, risk factors and available treatment options. Ms Baker said awareness initiatives played a vital role in encouraging women to recognize warning signs and consult healthcare professionals without delay. She emphasized that coordinated efforts by healthcare professionals, institutions and communities were essential to strengthening breast cancer awareness, promoting early diagnosis and protecting women's health. She added that sustained awareness initiatives and timely medical intervention were crucial to improving health outcomes and ensuring a healthier future for coming generations.
