KARACHI: Oil marketing companies (OMCs) recorded sales of 1.3 million tonnes in September, down two per cent year-on-year (YoY) but up 7pc month-on-month (MoM).
This took 1QFY27 sales to 4.1m tonnes, up 6pc YoY, mainly driven by higher furnace oil sales amid a shift in the power generation mix, Salman Iqbal of Top Line Securities said.
Furnace oil sales stood at 93,000 tonnes, up 601pc YoY in September 2026, mainly due to LNG shortages that increased the former's consumption in power generation. 'The same was down 5pc MoM due to lower power demand in our view,' Mr Iqbal said.
Total furnace oil sales during 1QFY27 stood at 270,000 tonnes, up 470pc YoY. Average petrol prices rose 42pc YoY to Rs375 per litre, while those of diesel increased 48pc to Rs401 per litre.
Petrol sales declined 5pc YoY and 2pc MoM to 652,000 tonnes in September. Total petrol sales during 1QFY27 rose 4pc to 2.046m tonnes.
Diesel fell 11pc YoY but increased 25pc MoM to 525,000 tonnes in September. However, sales dipped 3pc YoY to 1.571m tonnes in 1QFY27.
