Punjab Dengue Cases September 2026: Rawalpindi Leads

Punjab reports 57 dengue cases in September, with Rawalpindi most affected, as health authorities set up a helpline and issue prevention advisories. As many as 57 confirmed cases of dengue were reported across Punjab in September. Rawalpindi recorded the highest number at 22 cases, followed by Lahore with 14. Three cases each were reported in Chakwal, Multan, and Rahim Yar Khan; two cases each in Attock, Gujranwala, and Muzaffargarh; and one case each in DG Khan, Faisalabad, Nankana Sahib, Okara, Pakpattan, and Sialkot. Health Department's Response The health department says adequate measures are in place to tackle the outbreak, including a sufficient supply of medicine in public hospitals. Authorities issued an advisory urging residents to maintain clean, dry environments to curb the spread of the virus, and encouraged the public to cooperate with health teams working to contain the outbreak. Symptoms include high fever up to 104°F, severe headache, pain behind the eyes, muscle and joint pain, nausea, vomiting, and skin rash. There is no specific medication for dengue; prevention through avoiding mosquito bites and reducing mosquito breeding grounds remains the primary defence, alongside staying well-hydrated during recovery.
