ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council Allama Tahir Ashrafi has said that the entire Muslim Ummah stands united for the protection of the Two Holy Mosques, adding that Pakistan would have responded to any threat to Saudi Arabia even in the absence of a formal defence agreement. Addressing the Tazeem Haramain Conference here on Wednesday, Ashrafi reiterated Pakistan's commitment to the protection of the Two Holy Mosques and called for unity and solidarity among Muslim countries to address common challenges. He said Islamic countries should adopt a joint strategy to tackle regional and international challenges, stressing that mutual cooperation was essential for the unity of the Muslim Ummah. Referring to the Houthi militia's reported missile launch towards Saudi Arabia, Ashrafi said there should be no leniency or concession regarding such incidents. He maintained that Pakistan's position on defending Saudi Arabia was based on principle and that the country would have responded in its defence even without a formal agreement. Welcoming the Iranian president's statement, Ashrafi urged Muslim countries to set aside differences and strengthen cooperation, saying unity among Muslim nations was the need of the hour. He reaffirmed his commitment to continued joint efforts for the protection of the Two Holy Mosques and the promotion of unity across the Muslim Ummah.
