Unfortunately, it has become common to associate the word Hindu with India. While it is entirely valid to criticise India's government policies as a historical adversary, we must carefully separate political criticism from the Hindu religion and Sanatan Dharma, which should always be respected.
Likewise, even if India views Pakistan as an adversary, its criticisms should remain focused on states, governments and institutional policies, rather than targeting Islam or portraying Muslims in a negative light.
My appeal to my fellow citizens is simple: Let us distinguish between religion and politics. We have every right to criticise a country and its policies, but we must never target a religion. Respect for all faiths is a sign of tolerance, wisdom and humanity.
