Islamabad's Kashmir Chowk Underpass could open to traffic within the next 10 days, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said on Wednesday, as construction entered its 12th day. Speaking to reporters during a visit to the construction site, Naqvi said the Capital Development Authority (CDA), contractors and other teams were working around the clock to complete the project as quickly as possible. 'Today is the 12th day since work on the Kashmir Underpass began. The progress is visible, and we will try to open it to traffic within the next 10 days,' he said. The interior minister said construction had continued without completely stopping traffic or imposing major diversions, although commuters might have faced some inconvenience. He credited coordination between the CDA and Islamabad traffic police for maintaining traffic flow during the construction work. According to Naqvi, the route beyond the junction is already clear, which is expected to help maintain smoother traffic movement once the project becomes operational. Naqvi said the underpass would be opened as soon as construction was completed. He added that he would request Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to attend the inauguration ceremony. The minister also expressed hope that the project would be completed among Pakistan's fastest-delivered infrastructure schemes. The expected opening within 10 days would mark an important milestone for commuters using the junction, particularly those travelling towards Murree and other destinations along the route. However, the timeline remains a target announced by the minister, with the actual opening dependent on the completion of construction work.
