All set for Bahawalpur NA-168 by-election today

BAHAWALPUR (Dunya News) – By-election in NA-168, Bahawalpur will be held on Sunday (today). All arrangements for the polls have been finalised. The seat had fallen vacant after the death of PML-N MNA Malik Muhammad Iqbal Chanar. In the by-election, Malik Munir Iqbal Chanar is the candidate from the PML-N on his father's vacant seat, while Wali Dad Cheema, son of former federal minister Chaudhry Tariq Bashir Cheema, is also in the fray as an independent candidate. A total of 20 candidates are participating in the election contest in the constituency. In NA-168, 483,143 registered voters will exercise their franchise, including 248,529 male and 234,614 female voters. A total of 292 polling stations have been set up in the constituency, including 130 male, 130 female and 32 combined polling stations, with a total of 896 polling booths set up for the election. Strict security arrangements have also been made for the by-election. More than 3,000 police personnel will perform security duties, while one company each of the Pakistan Army and Rangers will remain in reserve. It should be noted that polling will begin at 8am and will continue uninterrupted until 5pm. The total population of NA-168 constituency is 937,095.
