PPC condemns fake AI-generated videos of senior journalist

Peshawar Press Club (PPC) has strongly condemned the alleged creation and circulation on social media of fake videos, reportedly generated using artificial intelligence (AI), attributed to senior journalist and Dawn News Bureau Chief Ali Akbar Khan. PPC office-bearers have called on the relevant authorities to conduct a transparent investigation into the incident and take legal action against those responsible. In a joint statement, PPC President M. Riaz and General Secretary Alamgir Khan expressed grave concern over the circulation of fake videos attributed to Ali Akbar Khan that allegedly contained accusations against a senior bureaucrat and a politician. They said the use of advanced technologies, including AI, to fabricate videos of journalists, damage their reputations, or mislead the public was highly condemnable.
