Karachi to get one-stop centre for passports, CNICs and lice

He directed officials to prepare and submit a master plan for the facility within 10 days. Karachi residents will soon be able to access a range of federal services, including passports, national identity cards, arms licences and no-objection certificates, at a single public service centre planned by the government. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced the proposed Grand Khidmat Markaz during a visit to the Interior Ministry's office on II Chundrigar Road. He directed officials to prepare and submit a master plan for the facility within 10 days. The centre will bring together counters for departments and institutions operating under the Interior Ministry, allowing citizens to complete multiple official processes at one location. Naqvi instructed the relevant authorities to ensure that the master plan takes all operational and public service requirements into account. He also directed officials to take the necessary steps for the centre's establishment and said the facility should be designed to make government services easier and more accessible for residents. During a separate visit to Karachi Port, Naqvi inspected 21 new rescue and firefighting vehicles imported from China for Islamabad Rescue 1122 and the capital's Fire Brigade. The vehicles are expected to reach Islamabad within five days and will expand the city's emergency response fleet after a gap of 17 years. The new fleet includes four fire aerial trucks, six fire towers, five fire tenders and other rescue vehicles equipped with modern emergency response systems. Some of the vehicles are capable of operating at heights of up to 256 feet. The new equipment will be deployed across six stations in Islamabad and remain available around the clock. Naqvi said the additional vehicles would strengthen the capital's rescue and firefighting capacity and improve its ability to respond to major emergencies.
