HYDERABAD - A Deputy Superintendent of Sindh Police Highway Patrol (SPHP), who was booked in an FIR for shooting and injuring 3 neighbours in Paretabad area the other day over a petty issue, was remanded to 4-day physical custody on Thursday. The Pinyari police informed that DSP M Ashrf Qureshi was produced before a judge of the Anti Terrorism Court in the Central Prison.
The police readed out the charges before the judge while seeking custody of Qureshi, who was rounded up on Wednesday from the site of the scuffle, for further interrogation. The FIR was registered under sections 324, 354 and 504 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), pertaining to attempted murder, assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty and intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace, respectively. Sections 6 and 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997, were also inserted in the FIR which was lodged on the complaint of Muhammad Waqas Kazi, brother of injured Irshad Fakhruddin whose condition was said to be critical. Afaq lshaq Rajput and Kamran Babu Hashmi were also injured in the incident and they all were shifted to Liaquat University Hospital. According to the complainant, Qureshi resided in a house located adjacent to their house in Noorani Basti locality in Paretabad.

He alleged that the DSP assaulted a woman of their family when she and other family members approached Qureshi to seek explanation for throwing their nephew's motorbike, which was parked outside their house, on the road.
According to him, Irshad intervened in the situation and tried to stop the argument but the DSP and his 2 official gunmen aggravated the situation.
Irshad sustained a gunshot in the chest, Rajput who was passing from the street was hit by a bullet in his leg and a neighbour, Hashmi, sustained a bullet in his back.
