MALIBU: Actor Nicolas Cage secured three permits for work to protect his beachfront home after a sinkhole swallowed its driveway on September 8.
Records Page Six obtained and disclosed Wednesday show the 62-year-old applied within days of the collapse. His representatives did not respond to its request for comment.
An emergency building permit allows sandbags along the beach and outside the property to reduce wave damage and further erosion.
Two additional approvals cover asphalt debris removal, ground support preparations and excavation for soil samples.
Cage primarily lives in Nevada and was not believed to be at the house when the ground gave way. No one suffered injuries.
The hole has expanded around the side of the home towards its entrance. Published photographs show scaffolding and heavy machinery at the site.

Malibu ordered residents of 31 homes to evacuate and declared a local emergency over structural dangers, gas leaks and restricted access. The affected street, Sea Level Drive, has a single entry and exit.
City officials described the remaining roadway as 'too narrow to accommodate emergency response vehicles'. In its initial emergency order, Malibu recorded a depth of 25 to 30 feet and dimensions of about 30 by 60 feet.

Geologists and engineers are working to support the surrounding ground and foundations and provide temporary erosion protection. Plans call for filling the crater and rebuilding the road.
Cage bought the beachfront home, which dates from the 1990s, in 2024 for a reported $10.5 million.
