SUKKUR - Regional Director Provincial Ombudsman Sindh, Sukkur, Ahmed Ali Qureshi on Thursday paid a detailed visit to the Women and Children Jail & Reformatory Sukkur on Wednesday. During the visit, he inspected various sections of the jail including the madrasa, kitchen, dispensary, solar system room, women and children barracks, under-construction barracks and other facilities. He reviewed the amenities being provided to the inmates and the ongoing development works. The Regional Director met with women inmates and inquired about medical facilities, education, food and other basic amenities. He also listened to their complaints and problems. The inmates expressed satisfaction over the facilities being provided.

Speaking on the occasion, Ahmed Ali Qureshi said that establishment of a library in jail is essential as promotion of education and reading creates awareness among inmates and helps eradicate ignorance. He assured the jail administration that he would contact relevant NGOs and hold meetings for resolving issues faced by the jail and for the welfare of inmates.
Earlier, Incharge of the jail SP Farzana Parveen Baloch and DSP Manzoor Ali Shah briefed the Regional Director. They informed that Women & Children Jail & Reformatory Sukkur is a historic jail where currently 70 women inmates along with 20 minor children and 44 elder children are housed.

They further informed that with the cooperation of Provincial Minister for Prisons Ali Hassan Zardari, development works including staff quarters, boundary wall, women quarters and other works are underway in the jail under ADP and M&R schemes.
