. S-III treatment plant to expand capacity: Sharjeel Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that the activation of Treatment Plant-1 under the Greater Karachi Sewerage Plan (S-III) marks an important step forward for the city's sewerage system. The Sindh government plans to increase the plant's capacity from 51 million gallons to 100 million gallons per day. It has also allocated Rs5 billion for secondary treatment to bring the plant into operation as soon as possible, he said. The senior minister said the project aims not only to treat wastewater but also to protect Karachi's environment and public health. Under S-III, the Lyari and Malir trunk sewers form a network spanning approximately 56 kilometres, carrying sewage to treatment plants.
