Islamabad Gets 21 New Rescue and Firefighting Vehicles After 17 Years

Islamabad is set to receive 21 new rescue and firefighting vehicles after a modern fleet arrived at Karachi Port from China, marking the capital's first major addition to its firefighting fleet in nearly 17 years. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi inspected the newly arrived vehicles at Karachi Port and reviewed their features and capabilities. He said the fleet is expected to be transported to Islamabad within five days, where the vehicles will be deployed to strengthen the city's emergency response infrastructure. The new fleet includes four aerial fire trucks, six fire towers and five fire tanks, along with other rescue and emergency-response vehicles. According to officials, the equipment will be distributed among six Rescue 1122 and fire brigade stations across Islamabad. The addition is expected to improve the capital's ability to respond to major fires, road accidents and other emergencies, particularly in areas where rapid deployment of specialized equipment is required. Officials said some of the newly acquired firefighting vehicles are equipped with advanced aerial systems capable of reaching heights of up to 256 feet. The increased reach is expected to provide emergency teams with greater access when dealing with fires in high-rise buildings and other elevated structures.
