The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather forecast for different parts of the country. Most areas are likely to have dry weather tonight. The weather will also remain mostly dry on Sunday. Plains are expected to stay hot during the day. Islamabad and nearby areas will also have dry weather. Temperatures may remain high during the daytime. What is the weather forecast for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa? Most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are expected to have dry weather. The plains of the province may remain hot during the day. What is the weather forecast for Punjab? Most areas of Punjab are likely to remain dry. The weather in the plains is expected to be hot during the daytime. What is the weather forecast for Sindh and Balochistan? Most districts of Sindh are expected to remain dry and hot. Most parts of Balochistan will have dry weather. Daytime temperatures are also expected to remain high. What is the weather forecast for Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan? Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are expected to have mostly dry weather. Some areas may see partly cloudy conditions during the day. El Niño is back in 2026? Before this, the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) had warned about changes linked to El Niño. The weather pattern has now returned and could become stronger during 2026. The WMO expects El Niño to reach a very strong level before its peak near the end of the year. It also says there is almost a 100 per cent chance that the weather pattern will continue until February 2027. El Niño happens when ocean water in the central and eastern tropical Pacific becomes warmer than usual. This warming can affect the atmosphere and weather in many parts of the world. What changes could El Niño bring? One major effect could be higher temperatures. The WMO expects most land areas to have a greater chance of temperatures above the normal level from September to November 2026. Rainfall patterns could also change. Some areas may receive more rain and face a higher risk of flooding. Other regions could face less rain and drought.
