By KARACHI: An animated series for children, titled 'YAHYA-The Lion of AQSA' and inspired by the life and sacrifices of legendary resistance leader of Palestine, Yahya Sinwar, was launched on Thursday to mark Youm-i-Toofan al-Aqsa. The first 15-minute episode of the series, produced in Urdu, Arabic and English by Everest Digital Works, was screened at a local shopping mall. Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chief Monem Zafar Khan and Grand Mufti of Gaza Dr Mahmoud Yousuf Al-Shoubki attended the inaugural ceremony. JI Karachi Secretary Taufiquddin Siddiqui played a key role in producing the series, which, according to the organisers, aims to instil in children the resolve to support the struggle for the liberation of Al-Quds and Palestine from Israeli occupation. A large number of families, including women and children, attended the screening, while the main hall was filled to capacity. Talking to the media, Monem Zafar said Oct 7, 2023, was a memorable day and an important milestone in the resistance movement of the people of Gaza and Palestine. He said Toofan al-Aqsa was a turning point when the people of Gaza, despite facing a far superior occupying power equipped with modern technology, proved that no force could defeat the power of faith and the spirit of resistance and sacrifice. He said the launch of the 'YAHYA-The Lion of AQSA' series highlighted the struggle, resistance and sacrifices of the people of Gaza. The JI Karachi chief said the series would also help create awareness among the new generation about Al-Quds, the first Qibla of Muslims, and the resistance movement Hamas. He said the liberation of Baitul Maqdas from occupation was a matter of faith. He expressed the hope that the sacrifices of the people of Gaza and Palestine would not go in vain and that Al-Quds would one day be liberated. On the occasion, drawing books and coloured pencils were distributed among children. The books contained sketches of Masjid al-Aqsa and Yahya Sinwar's house, which the children coloured. The ceremony began with the playing of the national anthem. The screening of the series will continue till Sunday, October 11. Copyright Business Recorder, 2026
