New System Being Prepared For Passengers Travelling Abroad From Pakistan

QR codes will be issued before passengers reach the airport as preparations for introducing an e-immigration system in Pakistan have been completed. ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Sep, 2026) Preparations to introduce an e-immigration system for passengers travelling abroad have been completed, with QR codes to be issued before they reach the airport. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) is soon set to launch a new e-Immigration mobile app. The initiative aims to fully digitise the immigration process at airports across the country and make passengers' travel procedures easier and faster. Passengers will be able to use the app to check their travel documents and other necessary travel requirements before arriving at the airport. The FIA will verify the details submitted by passengers online. Those whose documents are complete and valid will receive a QR code through the app. Upon arrival at the airport, passengers' data will be immediately retrieved in the system through the QR code at immigration counters, significantly reducing processing time. Passengers whose documents contain ambiguities or require further clarification will also be notified in advance through the app so they can resolve their issues in time. The FIA will also conduct risk profiling during the immigration process using the data received from passengers. According to officials, development of the e-immigration mobile application has entered its final stages. The digital initiative is expected to help eliminate long queues and delays at airport immigration counters.
