Cassandra Mohan is a nursing assistant who never envisioned that one day she would be an author. But Mohan, a believer in Jesus Christ, knows that she was just the vessel; God had the first say.

“I began writing this book as soon as I heard God’s voice when I got baptised four years ago,” Mohan shared with Her Magazine.

“Within that time, life’s challenges caused me to procrastinate a lot, and it was only in early 2025, when I was diagnosed with cancer, that I promised God I would complete and publish the book before the end of 2025, which I successfully did.”

Weapons of Warfare & Declarations of Dominion, the title of Mohan’s book, was described by the author as “a prayer and spiritual warfare guide that is rooted in scripture.”

“It’s a book of prayers, and it teaches believers how to pray strategically, speak the Word with authority, and take dominion in every area of their lives.”

Mohan said the book is specifically for those who are tired of spiritual attacks and do not know how to fight back biblically, as well as believers who feel overwhelmed, attacked or spiritually weary.

“Readers will gain structure in prayer, confidence in spiritual warfare, and language rooted in scripture. They won’t just feel inspired; they’ll feel equipped.”

Originally from Brazil Village, East Trinidad, Mohan’s relationship with God was born out of brokenness. A single mother at 18, she also endured domestic abuse — physically, emotionally and mentally.

“The night my daughter was born was all the motivation I needed to leave that situation. I asked myself, ‘What kind of mother would I be, and what kind of example would I be setting for my daughter if she sees me being abused and being cheated on?’”

“While I was in that relationship, I had no family support nor friends; it was just God and me, and He saw me through it.”

Mohan said she went on to build a life for herself following that abusive relationship, working hard to take care of her daughter.

“I faced many other challenges along the way where relationships are concerned.”

Last year, when Mohan was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, it forced her into what she called “raw dependence on God”.

“It stripped away everything possible. I did two back-to-back surgeries, multiple scans and radiation treatment.”

The journey deepened Mohan’s faith even more.

“It forced me into raw dependence on God. I wasn’t praying polished prayers; I was praying survival prayers. And in that place, I discovered that God is not just powerful in theory — He is present in suffering.”

Last year, Mohan also lost her father to cancer.

“I want to publicly thank my small tribe who stood with me through this time.

“This month would make it four years since I gave my life to God, and I’m beyond happy that I was able to be obedient and fulfil this calling on my life.”

Her family is proud to have a published author in their circle; she says of them: “They know I’ve come a very long way.”

Weapons of Warfare & Declarations of Dominion is currently available for purchase on Amazon and will be available by month-end at Scribbles and Quills in Chaguanas. Those who cannot afford to purchase the book are invited to visit any NALIS library to borrow a copy.

Having successfully launched her first book, Mohan already has her eyes set on her second book, an autobiography, which she said God also has His hand in.

“He also wants me to write an autobiography, because I have a lot of testimonies to share,” she said.

“So, look out for that.”
