■ The Korea Aerospace Administration (KASA) announced on the 29th that it held the 'Space and Aerospace Education and Culture Network' at the Naro Space Center on the 28th–29th to discuss directions for cooperation and key initiatives to broaden the base of space and aerospace education and culture. The network, organized around three subcommittees—education & policy, culture & communication, and infrastructure—brought together stakeholders from a wide range of fields, including educational institutions, science museums and observatories, research institutes, science culture experts, and university student clubs. They shared on-the-ground perspectives and policy proposals for spreading space and aerospace culture. Participants agreed that the space and aerospace sector must grow not only through technology and industry but also through public understanding and support, and they emphasized the need to build a sustainable cooperation framework that connects education, culture, and research in practice.
■ The University of Science and Technology (UST) announced on the 29th that Shim Ki-chan, a PhD candidate at the UST School in the Korea Research Institute of Ships and Ocean Engineering (KRISO), received the '2026 Future Ocean Science and Technology Talent Award' at the '2026 Joint Conference of the Korean Council of Ocean Science and Technology Societies,' held on the 28th at the Jeju International Convention Center (ICC Jeju). Shim was honored for his paper titled 'Evaluation of Structural Response of a Krylov Subspace-Based Reduced-Order Model for Real-Time Health Monitoring and Prediction of Container Ships.' The research results are expected to be applied to ship operating environments and used in next-generation technologies that enhance the safety of ships and offshore structures, including maritime accident monitoring and risk prediction.
■ The National Research Council of Science & Technology (NST) announced on the 29th that it held the '2nd NST Regional Innovation Forum' on the 28th at Hanwha Resort Jeju. Discussions at the forum were held under the theme 'Strengthening Regional Science and Technology Innovation Capabilities through Regional Organizations of Government-Funded Research Institutes in the Era of Regional Extinction.' Kang Young-joon, Director of Research Planning and Strategy at the Jeju Research Institute, gave a presentation on 'The Need for Science and Technology R&D to Secure Regional Self-Sustainability.' In a general discussion chaired by Shin Young-geun, Head of the Policy Strategy Department at NST, participants discussed the need to attract industry to secure local talent and the importance of cooperation and linkage among local governments, government-funded research institutes, and universities.
■ The Korea Industrial Technology Association (KOITA) announced on the 29th that it signed a business agreement with NH Investment & Securities at NH Investment & Securities' headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, and held an 'IR DEMODAY' event to connect promising technology companies with investors. Going forward, the two organizations plan to cooperate in discovering outstanding technology companies and expanding investment linkages, and to jointly operate various programs to support investment attraction and business growth for technology companies, including providing opportunities for IR (investor relations) presentations, investor networking, and follow-up meeting support.
