Peshawar - The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department has foiled two alleged attempts to smuggle narcotics in Peshawar and Charsadda, recovering 36kg of hashish and 1.5kg of crystal methamphetamine (ice) and arresting three suspects. According to the Excise Department, the Excise Bureau of Intelligence and Investigation Squad B-1 intercepted a vehicle (No. 2731) near H-Gol Chowk in Peshawar. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 18kg of hashish and 1.5kg of ice, the department said. Kundi urges cadets to pursue education, character-building The suspect, Zubair, son of Jahanzeb and a resident of Palosai, Peshawar, was arrested at the scene. A case was registered against him at the Excise Police Station, Peshawar, and further investigation is under way. In a separate operation, personnel of the recently established Excise Police Station Charsadda, acting on a tip-off, intercepted a vehicle (No. BLC-382) on the road near Prang Graveyard. A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of 18kg of hashish, the department said. Two suspects, Iftikhar, son of Jamal, and Adeel, son of Abdul Qayyum, both residents of Ichhra Bazaar, Rampura, Lahore, were arrested at the scene. KP govt launches drive to enrol 2.6m out-of-school children A case was registered against them at the Excise Police Station Charsadda, while further investigation is under way. The operations were conducted as part of the provincial government's anti-narcotics drive and on the directives of Provincial Minister for Excise Syed Fakhar Jehan.
