BUTLER - An 81-year-old Butler man died in a farm tractor incident on the 6900 block of Armstrong Road. Richland County Coroner's Investigator Bob Ball said Robert Winbigler was pronounced dead at the scene Sept. 3. His body will be taken to the Montgomery County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy. The Richland County Sheriff's Office report said the victim was pinned beneath the tractor. The man was using a chain to pull a log, which came in contact with a standing tree. When the tractor continued in drive, it couldn't move forward, which appeared to cause the tractor to overturn, pinning the man between the tractor and the ground, the deputy said in his report. The incident is believed to have occurred at about 11 a.m., the report said. Eric Winbigler on Sept. 4 said his father was someone who loved working. "He was hard working and died doing what he loved," he said. Worthington Township Fire Department personnel assisted at the scene. Contact Lou Whitmire at 419-521-7223.
