Nebraska Sorghum INDIANOLA, Neb. – The 2026 Nebraska Sorghum Field Day will take place on Wed., Sept. 9, 2026, in Indianola, Neb. Nebraska Sorghum Producers Chair Tracy Zink will host this year's Field Day. Zink is bringing producers, researchers, Extension specialists and industry representatives together to take a closer look at sorghum production and research. The field day will feature a research trial evaluating 22 sorghum varieties across 15- and 30-inch row spacings and plant populations of 40,000, 60,000 and 80,000 plants per acre. The dryland trials also offer a timely look at sorghum performance under this year's dry conditions. Presenters include Tracy Zink, Nebraska Sorghum Producers chair and field day host; Nicolas Cafaro La Menza, Ph.D., University of Nebraska-Lincoln; Lucas Haag, Ph.D., K-State Extension agronomist; Ruby Collins, assistant Extension educator in water and cropping systems, Red Willow County Extension; Nebraska Sorghum representatives; and participating industry representatives The event will start at 4 p.m., followed by dinner, at a sorghum test plot near Indianola, Neb. The plot sits 1.5 miles northeast of Indianola, 1.5 miles north of U.S. 34. Directions: From Indianola, travel east on U.S. 34 for 1.5 miles, then turn north onto Road 398.
