LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Dear Editor, While Labor Day is often thought of as the unofficial end of summer, the holiday's true purpose is to honor the workers who built this great country and those who keep our economy running today. Here in Northwest New Mexico, hard work is part of who we are—from the generations who labored in the mines and mills, to the current workforce who produce our energy, drive our trucks, staff our hospitals, and so much more. As your State Representative for House District 9, I want to say a heartfelt thank you to each and every hardworking New Mexican across the region for the important role you play in our economy and our communities. Each day, you use your time and talents to provide essential goods and services, support local kids and families, and strengthen this wonderful place we call home. Strengthening economic opportunities for our region has been a top priority of mine since taking office. Eight years ago, we established the Energy Logistics Park, utilizing our rail line to serve the manufacturing, storage, loading and logistics industries of our region. More recently, I sponsored legislation creating 'trade port districts' across New Mexico to facilitate interstate and international trade, while improving local infrastructure and creating good-paying jobs. Now more than ever, it's critical that we build resilient local economies with strong opportunities for this generation and the next. I will continue to fight for our communities, our small businesses, and all of New Mexico's workforce in the upcoming legislative session and beyond.
