Iarnród Éireann has apologised after one of the bilingual signs at Galway city's Ceannt Station was mispelt. At the newly opened train station in Eyre Sqyare, signage displayed on the turnstiles reads 'Ceannaig' instead of 'Ceannaigh', the Irish word for 'buy'. Contacted by the Irish Independent, Iarnród Éireann apologised for the error and said the sign will be corrected 'as soon as possible'. 'We will arrange to have this corrected as soon as possible. The statement continued: 'We would note this is a 'vinyl' type sign that is placed over the ticket barriers at Ceannt Station, and all permanent signage in the station is correct.'
