IAS Officer Gets 4th Transfer, In A Year, Before Subordinates' Threat to Shift Her, Feels Humiliated

Bhopal: An IAS officer of 2011 batch of Madhya Pradesh-cadre, Neha Marvya Singh, got her fourth transfer, in a year, on September five, before she received a threat of shifting her by her subordinates. The bureaucrat, whose last posting lasted barely 50 days, has poured her feelings of hurt and humiliation to the Madhya Pradesh IAS officers' Association, alleging that her subordinates organized a 'mutiny' against her and threatened to get her transferred. 'I am transferred because the subordinates whose establishment is not with me but with the department organized a mutiny against me, they are thumping on my desk threatening to get me transferred', the bureaucrat wrote to the association. Ms. Singh said that she had reported the details regarding disobedience of the subordinates, piling of files and mistreatment to her through the proper channel but instead of the alleged erring officials being pulled up, she was slapped with the transfer order. 'I completely understand that, being an IAS officer, I can be asked to perform my duties wherever the state government wants, and I have always respectfully accepted orders. But this time I feel very demotivated', she said. She wondered if an IAS officer is so vulnerable that even his or her subordinates can get him or her transferred by organizing a mutiny. 'This is the fourth time in one year my name appeared on the transfer list,' she said. Still wondering why her subordinates organized a mutiny against her just within a month of her taking up the new charge, she said that 'Leave me. I don't think any IAS officer can do anything of the level that subordinates organize a mutiny within a month of joining. Any officer hardly gets to understand the work in a month'. 'But I have been humiliated by this transfer at the behest of the mutiny of the subordinates', she wrote. She also noted that frequent transfers had made it difficult for her to understand and effectively handle her assignments. 'How am I supposed to work? My tenures are short months. By the time I understand the charge, I got removed', the bureaucrat said. She feared that the repeated transfers had made her an easy target for her subordinates who feel they can get her transferred if she did not toe their line. 'Today, it is me, tomorrow, another IAS officer will be the target', she remarked with a note of caution.
