Lion sparks hours-long search in San Francisco

A lion caused a major scare in San Francisco after it was spotted in the city's busy Sunset District on Friday. According to US media, the lion remained on the run for several hours, avoiding attempts to capture it. Police, the Department of Fish and Wildlife, Animal Control and officials from the San Francisco Zoo later surrounded the lion in the Outer Sunset area. The lion was eventually tranquilised and brought under control. US media reported that the lion was later released back into the wild.
