INP Chief Instructs All Personnel to Stand Ready in Anticipating Mount Anak Krakatau's Eruption Indonesian National Police

The Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo instructed all personnel to be more prepared in facing the impact of the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau. Police Chiefs were asked to ensure their personnel are ready to act quickly to provide services and assistance to affected communities. Chief Sigit issued this instruction following the widespread impact of Mount Anak Krakatau's volcanic ash in several areas, including Greater Jakarta and its surroundings. He emphasized the importance of personnel's presence in the community in ensuring that civilians' needs are promptly addressed. "Following the volcanic impact, all personnel are instructed to be ready to assist those in need of police assistance," Sigit said in his latest instruction on Sunday (9/6/2026). Chief Sigit requested all Regional Police Chiefs to respond quickly to the situation by optimizing police services, conducting outreach and education to the public, and preparing necessary health support and equipment. "Starting with masks, education on respiratory infections requiring hospital referral, and perhaps providing clean water and other necessary supplies," Sigit said. Sigit also emphasized that police officers should not simply wait for public reports, but should take the initiative to fulfil the needs in their respective areas. Personnel were asked to coordinate with local governments, health departments, disaster management, and related agencies to ensure an integrated response to the impacts of the eruption. Furthermore, Sigit emphasized that police personnel must be immediately present when the community needs them. "This includes evacuations and other issues that require police presence. This includes assisting with outreach and other matters," Sigit asserted. The Indonesian National Police (INP) continues to strengthen coordination and preparedness in potentially affected areas.
