Iranian Army Chief General Amir Hatami has announced a $30,000 reward for anyone who kills or captures a US soldier. General Hatami said the reward money would be provided to the Iranian people. He added that if a brave Iranian woman carried out the act, she would receive double the reward. He also said the weapon used would be bought by the army for twice its market price and placed permanently on display in a museum. General Hatami said one of the achievements of the US president was to activate the hidden potential of the Strait of Hormuz. Iran had been well aware of this potential, he said, but its usefulness would not have become clear in the same way without the war. He said this advantage was one of the basic conditions for ending the war in a way that would permanently remove the threat of war hanging over Iran.
