Jenny has her say after champs Wrexham start with win

The Reds were the dominant side at The Rock in their 4-0 triumph at home to Aberystwyth Town, which made sure Wrexham are the first league leaders of the season. However, it was a different atmosphere to head coach Sugarman's first match at the helm, when her side had to recover from a two-goal deficit to gain a 5-2 opening day triumph at Briton Ferry Llansawel last season. Sugarman told the club: 'A nice start for us. I was just speaking to the group then and saying how different it feels from last season. 'You know, there was a huge amount of drama in the game last year. The weather conditions completely different and us as an entity, really, different, you know. 'There was that little bit of unexpectedness about what we were going to be and who we were going to be on this stage.' The Reds were on the front foot from the off against Aberystwyth and just minutes after her effort hit the post, Jamaica international Natasha Thomas broke the deadlock with her headed effort from Maria Francis-Jones' cross. Two goals in quick succession early in the second half would do the trick to put the game to bed. Just three minutes after the restart, Francis-Jones etched her name on to the scoresheet when her brilliant effort picked out the top corner of the net. Then, a minute later, Ava Suckley added her side's third goal when she got on the end of a cross into the box. Katie Barker, the league's top scorer last season with 25 goals, opened her account for the new Adran Premier campaign when she headed home from Lili Jones' 73rd minute cross. Sugarman added: 'I think the confidence that you saw from the group there today is an indication of being really comfortable in who we are as champions trying to defend our title, how we want to play the game and what we expect from each other out there with our standards. 'So, yeah, delighted with a really professional performance today.' Next up for Wrexham is Sunday's trip to Cardiff City in a battle of last season's top-two. The Bluebirds opened their campaign with a 3-1 loss at Swansea City. Chloe Chivers, Emily Richards and an own goal sealed the deal for the Swans, while Gillian Keenan netted a late Cardiff consolation.
