PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Data shows millions of people across the U.S. experience mental health challenges each year, including symptoms of depression and anxiety, emotional distress, substance use concerns and thoughts about suicide or self-harm. Since 2022, the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline has helped connect people with mental health support. Hannah Wesolowski, chief advocacy officer for NAMI, joined us on AM Extra on Sept. 8, also known as 988 Day, to share the importance of this resource for those in crisis.
