Jennifer Aniston's beau Jim Curtis opens up about health vulnerability in rare interview Jennifer Aniston's boyfriend Jim Curtis spoke vulnerably with her about his partial paralysis and chronic nerve damage on Tuesday evening. The 50-year-old author sat down with Aniston, at 92NY Residence to discuss his new book, The Book of Possibility, in front of an audience while on stage at Kaufmann Concert Hall. He opened up about facing a medical crisis in his early 20s when doctors found lesions on his spinal cord. Curtis recalled being afraid to look up his diagnosis and said he felt his body 'freeze and seize up without the fear of what Google had to say about this.' He added that he pushed through his fear and decided, 'Tomorrow, everything changes.' 'I'm not saying here that if the doctor tells you to do something, you should get up and leave,' the hypnotist explained about getting a grave diagnosis. 'What I'm saying is you don't have to live as the victim. You don't have to live in your suffering. It can become your power.' Due to his condition, which has left him with a limp, Curtis relies on a cane and his advice for getting through a health ordeal is to 'accept it and love it.' 'I would say I got into a motorcycle accident,' Curtis shared. 'I was so shameful that I had a medical condition. I was broken in some way. I thought the motorcycle accident was at least a little macho.' Over the course of 25 years, he said he was able to 'overcome' his insecure thoughts with 'self-acceptance and self-love.' During a Q&A from fans following their 30-minute conversation, Aniston revealed a 'deep fear' that Curtis helped her overcome by having her moderate the event. She made the reveal when asked to share 'one possibility [she is] choosing today.' Jennifer Aniston responded that she was 'choosing to overcome a very deep, deep fear of public speaking.'
