Two individuals have been charged following a weapons incident in downtown Kingston

Kingston Police have charged two people in connection to a weapons incident that took place on Sept. 2 around 6:30 p.m. Officers responded to the area of Division and Garrett streets after receiving multiple reports from concerned members of the public about a disturbance involving several individuals and the suspected use of weapons. After attending the scene and speaking with witnesses, officers were able to identify the individuals involved and safely contain the situation. As a result, several individuals were detained without injury to members of the public. Two individuals were charged in connection with the incident and were held for a bail hearing. 'This incident highlights the exceptional work of our frontline officers, who responded quickly, assessed a rapidly evolving situation, and safely brought it to a resolution,' Kingston Chief of Police Adam MacIntosh said in a news release. 'I also want to thank the many members of the public who promptly reported what they were seeing. Their willingness to call police and provide information played a critical role in our response and serves as a reminder that community safety is a shared responsibility.'
