Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams has opened up about reprising her role as Arya Stark in the rumoured spin-off series. In a 2024 blog post, George RR Martin, the author and creator of the A Song of Ice and Fire series that inspired Game of Thrones, hinted at a spin-off project centred on Williams' character. In the post, he wrote: "We also got together with Maisie Williams for pizza and pasta, and talked about… well, no, better not get into that, do not want to jinx it. But it could be so much fun." Asked if she would return to the role that made her famous, Williams, who is currently starring in Practical Magic 2, said: "I don't know, really." What to Read Next She continued: "She would have to be developed in some way because I feel like I've changed so much, and I feel like what people loved about Arya is that she was always a child doing things that were quite grown-up." As reported by The Hollywood Reporter earlier this year in a profile of Martin, an insider told the publication that the Arya spin-off was in early development at HBO and would be set in Essos. "You try a lot of things. Some things you think are going to be good may actually be good. Some don't turn out well. "So you really just have to give yourself that ability to try a lot of different things without committing to a show. That process of development works for us."
