Pakistan's education system needs to place greater emphasis on practical skills that correspond with the requirements of the modern labour market. Although academic qualifications remain important, employers increasingly seek individuals who can demonstrate technical knowledge and workplace competence.
Training in information technology, artificial intelligence, data analysis and cybersecurity could create additional employment opportunities for young people. However, training programmes must focus on developing useful capabilities rather than merely issuing certificates.
Universities and colleges should establish partnerships with businesses to provide internships, professional training and practical projects. Students from disadvantaged backgrounds must also be given opportunities to participate. Connecting education with industry requirements would improve employment prospects and contribute to economic development.
