Values matter as much as marks, students told - The Times of India

Dharwad: Karnataka State Chief Election Commissioner GS Sangreshi urged students to pursue education with dedication and values, calling it the foundation of individual and social progress. Inaugurating a felicitation programme organised by the Dharwad unit of the Karnataka Kuruba Employees Welfare Association on the occasion of Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna Jayanti at Alur Venkatrao Hall on Tuesday, he said students should focus not only on academics but also on moral values, patriotism and courage. Sangreshi encouraged youth to take up competitive examinations and enter public service, stressing that hard work was the key to success. Deputy commissioner of commercial taxes Shashikala Paled said recognising talented students motivates them to achieve greater success and lauded the growing educational achievements of women and girls. The association honoured community achievers, retired employees and meritorious students. On the occasion, Krupakataksha, a poetry collection by Pratibha Patil, was released. Association president Ningappa N Savanur presided over the programme. Several officials and dignitaries attended and congratulated the awardees. Up Next
