Tropical Shipping Updates Freight Charges for Belize, Puerto Rico

Tropical Shipping is revising cargo-related charges for shipments moving through Belize and Puerto Rico, with higher landing charges in Belize and the removal of a cargo scanning fee in Puerto Rico. For Belize, the revised landing charges will take effect on October 4, 2026, following the introduction of a new Container Stripping Services fee at the Port of Belize Limited. The changes apply to LCL, breakbulk, barrels, pallets and motor vehicle shipments. The landing charge for LCL cargo will rise from $1.66 to $2.04 per CWT and from $0.83 to $1.02 per CFT. Pallet charges will increase from $20 to $35, while the charge for motor vehicles will rise from $550 to $725. In Puerto Rico, Tropical Shipping has removed its cargo scanning fee effective September 1, 2026, following the Puerto Rico Ports Authority's decision to eliminate the mandatory cargo scanning requirement. The fee will no longer apply to cargo shipped from that date. The changes represent separate adjustments to Tropical Shipping's tariff structure across its Caribbean network, reflecting changes in port-related costs and regulatory requirements.
